Kaleem Siddiqi

Professor

I am a Professor of Computer Science at McGill University, a member of McGill's Centre for Intelligent Machines, and an associate member of the Dept. of Mathematics and Statistics, the Goodman Cancer Research Centre, and MILA. Together with Keith Murai of the Dept. of Neurology and Neurosurgery I hold an FRQS Dual Chair in AI and Health. I work in shape analysis, with interdisciplinary interests - in computervision, neuroscience, machine learning, and perception.

Tabish is a researcher and developer focused on computational neuroscience, scientific computing, and machine learning, with a passion for building tools that bridge theory and real-world applications.

Chris Salmon

Chris spent the end of his PhD and pandemic years in the Siddiqi and Murai labs. During this time, Chris worked with Tabish Syed, Alex Schober and Benny Kacerovsky pioneering studies on the extremely complex nanoscale morphology of astrocytes. He is continuing his work on brain nanostructure in the Princeton Neuroscience Institute, working to extend the field of connectomics to include brains of new species and their astrocytes.

Albert Fok

Albert received his PhD from the University of Hong Kong under the supervision of Dr. Cora Lai. He is experienced in a wide range of experimental approaches in neuroscience and specializes in surgery, in vivo brain imaging and animal behaviours. With 3 first-authored journal publications focusing on the latest theory of neural plasticity that underlies learning and memory, he is now passionate about studying the promising roles of astrocytes in modulating neural circuits in both health and disease.

Kathie Cai

PhD candidate

Kathie is a PhD candidate working on mitochondria and astrocyte shape analysis. She graduated from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Math & Computer Science. In her spare time, she enjoys digital drawing and writing novels.

Marc Theveneau

PhD candidate

Marc is a second-year PhD student. His main interest is the topological relationships between neuroscience and AI. He graduated from École Polytechnique with a degree in fundamental mathematics and from Paris-Saclay University with a degree in mathematics for AI.

Megan Ng

Megan is a second-year Ph.D. student interested in decoding brain cell structure-function relationships in 3D using machine learning and vision-based methods for analysis. She completed her undergraduate studies at McGill, majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Computer Science, where she found her passion for computational neuroscience while working on interdisciplinary projects. In her free time, Megan enjoys dancing at DJ sets of all genres, crocheting, cooking, and thrifting.

Ben is currently a PhD student in the Shape Analysis Group. He has a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Philosophy from McGill University, and is interested in both classical and AI-driven computer vision problems. His research is currently centred around microscopy image registration and human-inspired deep learning for computational perception.

Marina Zhou

MSc candidate

Marina loves her cats, Mimi and Lili. Her thesis is focused on extending light microscopy depth by stitching opposite views on WgA stained mouse heart data. She will be attending UBC for a PhD in Biomedical Engineering. She is well-loved in the lab for her desserts and chocolates.

Faizan Jilani

Faizan is a second-year M.Sc. student whose current research revolves around analysing medical images via non-linear registration. Having done his bachelor's degree in mathematics, his interests also extend to the intersection of applied mathematics and shape analysis.

Sophie Ellwood

Sophie is a first-year M.Sc. student with a focus on geometry and computational models of shape. Prior to joining the Shape Analysis Group, she completed her undergraduate degree in Computer Science at Queen's University, where she also worked with the MIB Lab.

Isabel Frolick

Isabel holds a bachelor's in Computer Engineering from Queen's University, where she worked in the Ingenuity Labs. She is working in part at the Montreal Neurological Institute under Dr. Louis Collins, and has an interest in vision applied to real-time medical imaging. She enjoys running and writing.

Elise Donszelmann-Lund

Elise is a 1st year MSc student interested in image-guided surgery applications. Before attending McGill, she compleetd her undergraduate degree in Computer Science at Queen's University under supervision of Randy Ellis in the Medical Imaging Lab. In her free time, she enjoys thrifting, watching films, and playing bass.
