Slide-o-Cam

 

  A novel transmission intended to replace rack-and-pinion mechanisms: to convert rotational into translational motion, and vice versa.

A Prototype of Slide-o-Cam

Designed and fabricated by Dr. Damien Chablat, this prototype is to be used in a parallel-kinematics machine tool, the Orthoglide, which is under development at Ecole Centrale de Nantes, France.
