Q. How come I can't compile the example?
A. Because you are not using a linux box. Contrary to popular belief, nova is not a linux box. If the machine doesn't say:
Linux xxxx.cs.mcgill.ca 2.0.35 where xxxx is the machine name your are using, it is not a linux box.
