Ali Pakniyat is a researcher in the Centre for Intelligent Machines (CIM) and a course instructor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at McGill University. He received the B.Sc. degree in 2008 from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Shiraz University, Shiraz, Iran, and the M.Sc. degree in Applied Mechanics and Design from the School of Mechanical Engineering, Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 2010. He received the Ph.D. degree in 2016 from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, McGill University, Montreal, Canada. His research interests include deterministic and stochastic optimal control, nonlinear and hybrid systems, analytical mechanics and chaos, with applications in automotive industry, sensors and actuators, and robotics.
