Dr. Peter Savadjiev, former member of Professor Kaleem Siddiqi's Shape Analysis Group at Centre for Intelligent Machines (CIM) is the lead author of the paper. The work leading to this discovery was conducted here at McGill and the findings have broad implications. Congratulations to Prof. Kaleem Siddiqi and his research team.

À l'Université McGill, Gregory Dudek a mis au point un robot amphibie unique en son genre, appelé à faciliter grandement diverses activités sous-marines, dont la recherche. Pour réaliser ce projet, d'imposants défis ont dû être surmontés, en termes de vision par ordinateur et d'intelligence artificielle, entre autres. Cette réalisation et l'ensemble de ses travaux ont valu au professeur Dudek le prix Acfas – J.Armand-Bombardier 2010 pour l'innovation technologique.

Prof. Maxime Descoteaux of the University of Sherbrooke, CIM alumnus from the Shape Analysis Lab., has won the Erbsmann award at IPMI 2009 for his paper "Diffusion Propagator Imaging: Using Laplace's Equation and Multiple Shell Acquisitions to Reconstruct the Diffusion Propagator". This prize is offered once every two years for the best paper at the conference by a first time presenter under the age of 35.

Dr. Peter Savadjiev from Harvard University's Psychiatry Neuroimaging Lab., CIM alumnus from the Shape Analysis Lab, has won a 2009 Young Scientist Award at MICCAI, for his paper "Local White Matter Geometry Indices from Diffusion Tensor Gradients". He is the only Canadian to win two such awards, his first one being for the paper "3D Curve Inference and Diffusion MRI Regularization" in 2005.
