Congratulations to Dr. Hervé Lombaert, Post-Doc in Prof. Kaleem Siddiqi's Shape Analysis Group, for winning the Francois Erbsmann Prize at the 23rd biennial International Conference on Information Processing in Medical Imaging held in Asilomar CA.

The paper titled "Towards" Diffeomorphic Spectral Matching of Cortical Surfaces was co-authored by Dr. Jon Sporring and Prof. Kaleem Siddiqi, and was presented by Dr. Hervé Lombaert. In 2009 Dr. Maxime Descoteaux, formally of CIM/SOCS, also won this award.

Francois Erbsmann, one of the founders of IPMI, died tragically soon after the first IPMI. In his honor an award is given at each meeting for the best paper presented by a young scientist making his or her first oral IPMI presentation. To be eligible, you must be the first author of the paper, 35 or under, and this should be your first oral presentation at IPMI.
