Aqua robot and Mobile Robotics Laboratory featured on Canal Savoir
In June 2011, Canal Savoir featured the mobile robotics laboratory lead by Professor Gregory Dudek and highlighted their work on the AQUA project. The AQUA project explores the science and technologies for the interpretation of underwater video footage, the identification of underwater features, human-robot interaction, the modeling of 3-D scenes using vision and acoustics, vehicle control, position estimation and mechanical design. Key applications for AQUA are the assessment of marine habitats and biodiversity on coral reefs.
If you want to learn more, listen to Prof. G. Dudek, doctoral student Anqi Xu, and former doctoral student Philippe Giguère who is now an assistant professor at Université Laval explain their achievements and the challenges ahead. Check it out: Canal Savoir: Aqua - le robot sous-marin.
